What LensUp is
LensUp is a free online document scanner: it turns phone photos of paper into clean, printable PDF scans, in the browser, with no app, no sign-up and no watermark. The same engine drives a set of narrower tools — perspective correction for skewed shots, shadow removal for badly lit pages, handwriting erasure for reusing filled worksheets, an ID-card layout that prints both sides at true size on one A4 sheet, and compression toward a chosen file-size target for uploads with limits.
The defining choice is where the work happens. Every image and PDF is processed by your own browser — the files are not uploaded, which is the property that matters when what you are scanning is an identity card, a bank statement or a medical form.
A scan in four moves
Add photos or a PDF; straighten each page by placing its four corners; pick a scan look — colour, grayscale or black-and-white with the shadow-levelled document filter; export as a merged PDF on A4 or US Letter, or as images. A single page with a size limit can instead be exported toward 50 KB to 1 MB, best effort, with the real result size reported.
