LookScanned alternative: choose cleanup or a scanned look
Look Scanned and LensUp are separate products. Look Scanned’s public scanner describes local processing and support for PDFs, images and several document formats. LensUp offers a local PDF scan effect and separate document-photo cleanup tools. Choose by the actual task and accepted input, rather than assuming every scanner does the same work.
Steps
- Identify your input
A clean PDF, a photograph of paper and an Office or HWP document need different first steps. LensUp’s scan-effect entrance accepts PDFs and supported images; use an originating app to export unsupported document formats first.
- Choose appearance or cleanup
For paper grain and a slight tilt, use PDF to scanned PDF. For a phone photo with a skewed border or shadow, use the document scanner or shadow-removal tool instead.
- Check the actual output
Download a copy, check each page and retain the source. A scanned appearance rasterizes the page; it does not preserve editable text, live forms or the validity of a digital signature.
What the public comparison proves
The Look Scanned pages linked below are vendor descriptions, not a hands-on benchmark in this guide. Their advertised format list is broader than the direct LensUp scan-effect input list. Do not upload an HWP or email file to LensUp expecting a converter that is not present.
LensUp’s separate editor can add text and cover regions in a PDF. Its ordinary scan-effect export is free; paid account features are separate from this task. We do not compare unverified paid limits or promise one product is always better.
What result should you keep?
For reading and archiving, the original digital PDF may be more useful because its words and links can remain functional. A scan effect is useful only when that appearance is the requested result.
For extracting words, use PDF to Markdown and review recognition. It is not a recreation of the original editable layout, nor is scan appearance proof that a physical paper was scanned.
