How do I edit a PDF online for free?
Open the PDF in the editor above and pick a tool: Text to add text to PDF pages, Sign for your signature, or Image, Shapes, Pen, Cover, ✓ ✗ and Date. Click the page where text, a shape, a tick or the date belongs; a picture or a signature appears in the middle of the page for you to drag into place. Click a form’s own fields to fill them in, and use Pages to turn, move or delete pages. Then press Download edited PDF — free, with no account, no watermark and no upload.
Frequently asked questions
Is this PDF editor really free?
Yes. There is no account to create, no watermark on the download and no daily or hourly limit. The limits are per file: up to 100 MB and 200 additions, and adding pages stops at 1,000 pages.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved in your browser and is never sent to a server. While you type, the editor downloads the pieces of font your text needs; your PDF stays on your device.
Can I change the text that is already in the PDF?
No. This editor cannot change or delete the existing text. To replace a word, put a Cover box over it and type the new text on top. Cover only hides: the old text stays in the file and can still be copied or found by search.
Can I edit PDF files on my phone?
Yes. You can edit PDF online in current Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on phones, tablets and computers, and on a phone the editor has its own tool bar. There is no app to install.
Can I sign a PDF for free?
Yes. Press Sign, then draw your signature, type your name in a handwriting style or use a picture of your signature, and drag it into place. It is a picture of your signature, not a digital signature: it carries no certificate and does not prove who signed.
Can I fill in a PDF form here?
Yes. Click a field to type, tick a check box, pick a radio button or choose from a dropdown or list; your answers are saved in the form’s own fields, so the file stays a working form. Forms built only with XFA cannot be filled in here.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
You can add text, a signature, ticks, pictures and highlights on top of a scan, and turn, move or delete its pages. The editor does not recognise the words in a scan (no OCR), so the scanned text itself cannot be changed.
Can I rotate, delete or reorder PDF pages here?
Yes. Open Pages to turn the current page 90°, move it up or down or drag its thumbnail, delete it, add a blank page after it or add the pages of another PDF. Deleted pages are gone from the downloaded file.
Which files can I open, and how large can they be?
PDFs up to 100 MB; adding pages stops when a document reaches 1,000 pages. A password-protected PDF opens with its password and is saved with the same one; a PDF locked only against changes (no password asked when it opens) opens too, and the download does not keep those restrictions. Pictures you add can be JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC, up to 40 megapixels and 50 MB.
How is this different from other online PDF editors?
Most online PDF editors upload your file to their server; some also ask you to sign in before you can download, or limit how many files you can edit per hour or per day. This PDF editor keeps the file on your device, with no account and no daily limit. Many other editors can change existing text or read scanned text with OCR; this one cannot.
Will the text I add look the same in every PDF reader?
Yes. Added text is drawn into the page as outlines, so every reader shows the same letters in the same place, and it prints the same way. The trade-off: PDF readers cannot select, copy or search that text.
Can I hide part of a PDF page?
Cover puts a plain box over it, in the page’s own colour or white, so it no longer shows on screen or on paper. It only hides: the text or picture under the box stays in the file and can still be copied, found by search or uncovered, so do not use it to keep something secret.
