Image to scanned PDF — give JPG and PNG a scanner effect

Convert an image to scanned PDF without printing it: open a JPG or PNG, keep Scanned look selected, and export. LensUp adds a warm paper tone, fine grain and a slight tilt to the image, then writes a PDF on your device.

No sign-up or watermark for this effect and ordinary export. Transparent PNGs can turn dark on import: first use Image to JPG to give them a white background. Scanned look turns colored ink gray; inspect the result before sharing.

How do I convert an image to scanned PDF?

Choose your images, leave Scanned look selected, put the page cards in order, then press Export PDF. For one image file instead, open Export options and choose JPEG or PNG. Everything runs in the browser. To clean a paper photo rather than add texture, choose White document instead of Scanned look.

Start with the result you need. A flat digital image can use a scanner effect for JPG or PNG. A photograph of a paper document usually needs the page edges cropped and the background cleaned instead; use Edit and White document, or open the document scanner linked below.

Several images can become one PDF, one page per image. To save a single processed picture instead, choose JPEG or PNG in Export options. The effect changes appearance; it does not recognize text or establish where a document came from.

    How it works

    1. Choose the imagesOpen JPG, opaque PNG, WebP or HEIC images. For transparent PNG, first open Image to JPG using the link above, choose the PNG, convert and download the white-background JPG, then return here and import that JPG. You can add, reorder or remove page cards.
    2. Choose texture or cleanupScanned look is preselected. Its scan styles offer Office scanner, Black & white, Photocopy and Old scanner, with adjustable strength. For a photographed sheet, use Edit to select its corners and choose White document for a clean background. The effects replace one another: White document, Grayscale, Color and Black & white add no scanner grain or tilt.
    3. Choose PDF, JPG or PNGUse PDF to combine several page images. For one image, open Export options and select JPEG or PNG. If you set a size target, inspect the actual result: it is a best-effort target, and PNG does not use lossy size targeting.

A scanner effect and a clean document photo are different jobs

Scanned look deliberately adds texture and a slight tilt to a flat image. It is useful for a consistent visual style, but extra grain does not recover blurred letters or remove a photographed desk.

Use the page editor to crop a paper photo, and use White document when the goal is a cleaner sheet. If you need automatic corner proposals or shadow cleanup, start with the document scanner. Switching to Scanned look selects a different effect rather than stacking it on White document.

    Transparent PNG backgrounds and color

A JPEG is already an image; processing it again can change fine detail. This scanner does not automatically fill transparent PNG areas white, so importing them directly can give a dark background. The existing Image to JPG tool fills transparency white: convert and download there, then import the JPG here. Inspect white lettering and artwork, which can disappear on white. Keep the original image.

Scanned look uses warm gray, so a blue signature or red stamp loses its color. Choose Color if the original colors matter; it adds no grain or tilt. Use the black-and-white scan style for textured black/white pixels, rather than confusing it with the separate plain Black & white effect.

Several images, file size and readable text

Choose PDF when several images belong in one document, and check their order before exporting. Large photos and long batches use more memory; split them into smaller jobs if the device struggles. Image-based PDFs do not gain selectable or searchable text here. Use the separate image-to-Markdown tool when the task is OCR, and check its recognition result.

Appearance is not a signature or certification

The effect changes pixels. It does not sign, date, certify or authenticate a document, and it does not protect a file from editing. If you need a scan of an actual signed sheet, photograph that sheet and use the LensUp document scanner.

    Frequently asked questions

Is image to scanned PDF free and private?

This effect and ordinary export are free, without a watermark or sign-up. Image processing and export run on your device; this tool does not upload the input files.

Can I make a JPG or PNG look scanned without creating a PDF?

Yes. Prepare transparent PNG with Image to JPG first if needed, then import one image, keep Scanned look selected and choose JPEG or PNG in Export options. PNG is lossless; a smaller size target does not apply to PNG.

Can I turn a photo of paper into a clean scan?

Use Edit to crop the page and choose White document for cleanup. The separate document scanner also offers automatic corner proposals and shadow cleanup. The Scanned look effect adds texture instead of doing those jobs for you.

Does an image-based PDF contain recognized text?

No OCR text layer is added by this page. The result contains page images. For text you can copy, use the separate OCR tool and verify the words it recognizes.

Can several pictures become one PDF?

Yes. Add the images, arrange the page cards and choose PDF. Each image becomes a page. Inspect the output and keep the original pictures if you need to change the order or quality later.
