Signature resize
Signature rules are unusually strict because the uploaded image may be compared with a later signature on an attendance sheet or admission document. Official examples from SSC and RBI use a 10–20 KB range, but their preferred dimensions differ. That is why a signature resize workflow must preserve the entire mark and check both numbers.
The target is preselected. Compression is best-effort; verify the saved file before upload.

Adjust
EffectWhitens the paper background; dark print stays dark.
Removes the color and adds a little contrast.
Keeps the original colors, with no tone change.
Pushes ink to black and paper to white; some gray can remain.
Evens out shadows and uneven light; keeps colored ink and stamps.
Fades blue, red and green ink; cannot reliably remove black handwriting.
Warm gray paper, fine grain and a slight tilt; colored ink turns gray.
Export
Export optionsA4 · Single · 20 KB
ID card: places the first two pages as front & back at ID-1 size on one A4 sheet. Use Edit to crop or align the four corners.
PNG is lossless, so target sizes do not apply.
Uses original photos. Larger files and slower export. Available with No limit or PNG.
Optional. Keeps the image ratio and never exceeds the page.
How do I resize a signature for an online form?
Photograph or scan the signature clearly, crop close to the complete ink without clipping strokes, choose the target from the current notice and export. LensUp works toward the selected size on a best-effort basis; you must verify its dimensions and clarity.
Use black ink on clean white paper when the notice requests it. Capture the image straight, without a hand shadow, and leave a small safe margin around the outermost stroke. An apparently blank or miniature result may meet the byte limit yet still be rejected.
Official upload examples
These verified examples show why the correct target depends on the authority and document slot.
| Authority and document | Verified requirement | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Staff Selection Commission (SSC)CHT Examination signature | JPEG/JPG, 10 KB–20 KB, about 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm | SSC now captures the candidate photograph live for this notice, so an old photo-upload rule should not be assumed. |
| Reserve Bank of India (RBI)Recruitment signature | JPG/JPEG, preferred 140 × 60 pixels, 10 KB–20 KB | The signature must remain clear; reducing bytes does not replace the portal’s pixel and legibility checks. |
| Reserve Bank of India (RBI)Recruitment photograph | JPG/JPEG, preferred 200 × 230 pixels, 20 KB–50 KB | This is a verified example of a portal that accepts a size range rather than one exact number. |
Official limits can change by recruitment, year and document type. Check the latest official notice or guidelines before you upload.
How to prepare the file
- Create a clean signature sourceSign according to the notice, photograph the paper in even light and keep the camera parallel. Do not use capital letters when the official instructions prohibit them.
- Crop with a safe marginOpen the editor and place the crop just outside every ink stroke. Preserve dots, flourishes and the beginning and end of the signature; clipped marks can cause a mismatch later.
- Export toward the required rangeSelect 20 KB or enter the requested target, export and read the actual size. Then check the pixel or centimeter dimensions and the portal preview against the latest notice.
SSC and RBI do not publish one universal size
The cited SSC 2026 notice asks for 10–20 KB and about 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm. The cited RBI recruitment guidance also uses 10–20 KB but lists preferred 140 × 60 pixels. Follow the authority and recruitment you are actually applying to, not a copied social-media instruction.
SSC’s cited notice uses live camera capture for the candidate photograph. Do not apply an old SSC photograph-upload limit to that process. This page is specifically for a file that the current form tells you to upload, such as a signature.
Protect identity and legibility
LensUp processes the image locally, which avoids sending the signature to LensUp. You still need to handle the exported file carefully, store it only where needed and upload it through the official portal rather than an unverified link.
Best-effort compression may finish above the requested limit when the source is noisy. Retake the photograph on clean paper before sacrificing the strokes. A sharp source with little background usually compresses more efficiently and remains easier to compare.
Frequently asked questions
What file size should I use for signature resize?
Use the current notice. The cited SSC and RBI examples specify 10–20 KB, but another portal may differ. The tool can work toward 20 KB and reports the actual output.
Should I crop exactly on the ink?
Leave a small safe margin. Cropping through a dot or flourish can make the signature incomplete, while a very large blank border wastes bytes and makes the mark look miniature.
Can LensUp confirm that my signature will be accepted?
No. It provides local editing and best-effort size reduction. Only the official portal or recruiting authority can validate dimensions, format, placement and visual match.
