Remove what’s under the covers?

A cover only hides: what is under it stays in the file and can be copied or found by search. Removing what is under the covers saves the whole file as pictures of its pages — the covered content is gone, and the text can no longer be selected or searched. Links and form fields are removed too.

Split or save pages

A comma starts a new part: 1-3, 4-6 is two parts. Your edits on these pages are included.

How do I unlock a PDF for editing?

Open the PDF above. A file locked only against changes opens at once; a file that asks for a password opens when you type it. Then press Download edited PDF: the copy has no password and no restrictions, so you can edit, print and copy from it — free, with no sign-up and no upload.

How to unlock a PDF in three steps

  1. Open the PDFUp to 100 MB. If it asks for a password, type it once.
  2. Edit it if you likeThe editor’s tools are on the same page: add text, a signature or a picture, or turn and delete pages. This step is optional.
  3. Download the unlocked copyPress Download edited PDF. The copy opens without a password and has no limits on editing, printing or copying; the file you opened is not changed.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free? Are there limits?

It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. A PDF can be up to 100 MB.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and saved in your browser; nothing is sent to a server, and the password you type stays on your device.

Can I unlock a PDF without the password?

If the PDF opens without a password and only blocks editing, printing or copying, yes: that lock is removed. If it asks for a password to open, you need that password — LensUp does not crack or guess passwords. Unlock only files you have the right to use.

Will the unlocked PDF still have a password?

No. The copy is saved without the open password and without the owner’s limits on editing, printing and copying.

Does unlocking change the pages?

No. The pages, their text and pictures are kept, and text you could select is still selectable; the file is only written again without the lock.

What happens to a digitally signed PDF?

The copy is a new file, so a digital signature in it is not valid any more. If the recipient needs to verify the digital signature, send the original PDF.

Can I unlock a PDF on my phone?

Yes, in your phone’s browser — no app. Open the file, type the password if it asks, and tap Download edited PDF.
